Fraternal Order of Police Praises Gibson City for Resolution > ILFOP

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) is praising Gibson City for a resolution the city council passed recently that supports the local police department.

“Gibson City becomes only the third community in the nation to go on record officially supporting their neighbors and friends, the men and women who serve and protect the public as police officers,” said FOP President Chris Southwood. ”We urge all local governments throughout Illinois to follow their lead and make it known that the citizens of this state appreciate and support the difficult, dangerous and necessary work that police officers perform.”

“While some so-called celebrities use their fame to try and drive a wedge between police officers and the public, it's gratifying and humbling that right here in the heartland, people recognize and appreciate good public service,” Southwood said.
