On September 29, 2009, Officer Patrick Colleran of the Winnetka Police Department suffered a tragic loss with the unexpected passing of his beloved wife Aileen. Patrick has been a dedicated member of the Police Department for over twenty years. He has been an active supporter and executive officer of several fraternal and charitable organizations. He is presently Secretary of the Winnetka Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 76. Aileen was a pillar of support that afforded Patrick the opportunity to pursue his passion of being a Police Officer and serve the community. Aileen was a registered nurse and shared Patrick's passion for helping others. Patrick and Aileen are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters aged 10, 12 and 15. Donations for the children may be made to the Aileen Colleran Scholarship Fund, c/o New Trier F.C.U., 642 Green Bay Rd., Kenilworth, IL 60043.
My name is Stu Weyforth and I’m a master sergeant in DII, Northern Command. I've taken on a personal challenge to run a marathon (that's 26.2 miles) to raise money for a fundraiser known as Kick’n4Chris. I ran my first marathon last year; however, this year I’ve decided to make a difference by using my act of lunacy as a way to raise money for a good cause. Anyone who knows me would probably agree stubbornness and determination are both qualities that I've been generously endowed with. I'm 100% committed to run the full 26.2 miles, even if I have to drag myself by my teeth over the finish line -- but I need your help to make it happen!
In order to finish the marathon, I need to raise at least my target goal of $6,000 for Kick’n4Chris.
This fundraiser was recently created for 12 year old Chicago resident Chris Doherty. Chris was diagnosed in
June, 2007 with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Chris is the son of a Chicago Police sergeant and long time friend of mine.
Chris endured months of intense chemotherapy. Medical bills for Chris’ multiple surgeries, hospital visits,
chemotherapy treatments, bone marrow tests, MRI(s), CT and PET scans are enormous. Although his parents have
insurance, they may exceed the maximum lifetime family benefit. Additionally, friends and family are hosting a
fundraising event on Sunday, September 28, 2008, 4:00 PM – 10 PM, at Hawthorne Race Course, 3501 S. Laramie, in
Stickney, IL. I intend to raise at least an additional $6000 by running the marathon.
For more information about the Kick’n4Chris fundraising event, please check out the website
www.kickn4chris.org.
A contribution to Kick’n4Chris will not only help get me across the finish line, but more importantly, it'll help
relieve the financial stress and to help ease the overwhelming medical bills Chris’ family has and will incur in the future.
Some typical donation amounts are:
$1/mile: $26.20
$2/mile: $52.40
$5/mile:$131.00
$10/mile: $262.00
...or you can make the donation out for any amount you choose to -- anything and everything is greatly appreciated!
All donations should be made payable to Kick’n4Chris and mailed directly to me at 4720 W. 99th Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.
The marathon I will be running is the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Last year’s Chicago marathon ended in
chaos and commotion when temperatures reached the city’s all time record of 88º F (31º C) two hours after the start of the race.
The marathon takes place on October 12th, 2008, and I've already begun training for it. If you have any comments or questions,
feel free to reach me via e-mail at: sweyforth@comcast.net

Officer Eric Schultz, hired onto our Department in December of 2006, is in need of financial assistance. The
23 year-old member of Wauconda Lodge #276 was recently diagnosed with a form of pediatric bone cancer. Currently
undergoing treatment, the side effects as well as doctor’s orders, have left him unable to work. Being a new hire,
Eric did not have the benefit of accumulated sick time to fall back on. While his prognosis is encouraging, he may
be unable to work for several more months. His benefit time is quickly running out. While each member of our
agency has donated comp or vacation time to Eric, he will soon deplete his paid time off. Utilizing FMLA, he
can recover and still be assured a position. However, paying his bills will soon become unmanageable. A fund has
been set up for Eric at a local bank and any contributions from our brothers and sisters in the FOP would be deeply
appreciated. The account is set up as:
The Eric Schultz Memorial Foundation
c/o The Fifth Third Bank
486 W. Liberty Street
Wauconda, IL 60084
Officer Greg Simmons of the Pekin Police Department, FOP Lodge #105, is in need of financial assistance. Greg has been a Pekin Police Officer since 1995 (and a Peoria County Deputy and Bradley University Police Officer before working for Pekin). Greg was placed on leave form the Pekin PD in March, 2006, and was forced to use all of his sick time, vacation time, personal time and comp time.
Greg is a single parent raising a 13 year old daughter on his own. Greg has had no income for some time now, and assistance from FOP local lodges would help. Any donations given would be greatly appreciated and not forgotten. With the help of the FOP, hopefully Greg will be back to work very soon. Thank you very much for your consideration in this matter.
Please make donations to: Greg Simmons.
Please mail donations to: Jeffrey A. Little, Pekin Police Department, 111 South Capitol, Pekin, IL 61554, 309-613-0323.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Little, Trustee
