To apply for membership in the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police, State Lodge, please fill out our Member Application Form.

Membership Criteria

Members of the Fraternal Order of Police must be full-time, sworn law enforcement officers who live or work in Illinois. Officers of any rank are eligible for membership. If you do not meet these requirements, you may be eligible to become an Associate Member.

CIST - Critical Incident Support Team - Toll-Free Peer Support

The State Lodge operates a toll-free, 24-hour hotline for law enforcement officers. The Critical Incident Support Team provides law enforcement officers seeking assistance with peer support or social services, a confidential program to receive the help they need. CIST will find a professional organization or program that the officer can contact. ALL calls are confidential and no information about the officer is recorded. Whether the office seeks assistance with an alcohol or gambling problem or is having marital problems, CIST will find them help. Read more...

Accelerated Bachelors Degree for Police Officers and Affiliated Personnel

Complete your Bachelors Degree with Concordia University Chicago in only 18 months. This program meets locally, one night per week and is specifically designed for police officers and municipal workers. College credit may be obtained for work experience, seminars, and workshops. Financial Aid options are available. Learn While You Serve

The National FOP has selected Bellevue University as an education partner. Bellevue University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Illinois FOP members can receive a free evaluation of training, previous college credit, professional licenses, military and more. Bellevue University will also award you 24 credit hours for completion of the Police Academy (almost a year of college). Bellevue University's programs are online and designed to allow you to do the program as it fits into your schedule. There are weekly assignments, which allows us to accelerate the programs. You can complete the Bachelor's Degree requirements in a minimum of 15 months and the Master's Degree programs in 16-18 months. 21 Bachelor's Degree majors to choose from - to include Criminal Justice Administration, Investigations, Security Management, Corrections Administration and Management, Leadership and Management. Nine Master's Degree programs - Master of Public Administration, Leadership, Security Management, Management, and the MBA.

  1. Choose three e-mail addresses, such as username@fop.net.
  2. Select a password.
  3. Indicate the "Name" that should appear in the "From" field when you send an e-mail.

Scholarship Program for Children of Members

$500 scholarships are awarded each year to 19 recipients - one from each of the 18 Districts for the State Lodge and one at-large awarded by ISPFCU. Children of FOP Members are eligible. The drawing was held July 23rd, and the winners are listed below.
